The Longines World Equestrian Academy (LWEA) Summer Camp has never been more international:

17 participants from 10 nations, including two young German riders, who won the place through an online competition. In one week they all experience how multi-facetted modern show jumping is these days.

President of the LWEA Ludger Beerbaum, who just came back from Longines Global Champions Tour London where he was placed third, believes strongly in the concept that horse management, correct feeding, health and fitness of horse and rider all play an important role to become successful. “The LWEA Summer Camp focuses on flat work, gymnastics of horse and rider as well as course jumping”, says Ludger Beerbaum. Additionally, the Summer Camp aims to give an insight into the daily work of the likes of Philipp Weishaupt und Christian Kukuk and their mental, theoretical and practical work with and around the horse. “And in addition, all of it shall be fun”, Ludger says.

The sun reflects the mood at the equestrian centre of Riesenbeck International: shiny and smiling faces all over the place. The tight programme leaves nothing to desire: riding in the morning and various activities in the afternoons – from fitness training for the riders to visits in the National Stud in Warendorf or a guided tour through the Horse Museum in Münster. The highlight comes at the end of the Camp: a visit to the Global Champions Tour in Valkenswaard, Netherland. However, not only as visitors, but also walking the course of the Grand Prix together with Ludger Beerbaum. What an experience!
